Another legend says that the garden was created by Raja Bhoj, a legendary king of ancient India. Pinjore Gardens is not only a historical monument, but also a cultural treasure. It was built by Nawab Fidai Khan, a foster brother of the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb, in 1669. Pinjore Gardens is not only a place to admire the flora and fauna, but also a place to explore the rich history and heritage of the region. It is a masterpiece of Mughal and Sikh architecture, spread over seven terraces that offer stunning views of the Shivalik hills.

The garden is further decorated with 3 graceful pavilions which face the giant fountains and enjoy the splendid rippling of water courses. The garden is divided into six terraces built in a descending order. This garden represents the great architecture of Mughal gardens which includes a magnificent gateway that leads to the highest terrace. A. The ticket price for  Pinjore Garden varies depending on the visitor's age and nationality. One may conveniently travel from a taxi or a bus to the garden which is approx. 7km via locally available transportation such as a taxi, or a bus to reach the garden.

For reference, tea costs ₹90 and hot coffee costs ₹120.This pricing feels misleading, especially in a public tourist place where visitors naturally expect fair and transparent rates. The prices are not clearly visible, as the rate list is displayed on a small board placed high above the shops, which most visitors are likely to miss. There is no doubt that the garden itself is beautiful and well maintained. I visited Yadavindra Garden, Pinjore in January 2026.

The garden has a heritage hotel, called the Rajhans Hotel, which is located in the Rang Mahal terrace. The garden has various facilities and amenities for the visitors, such as restrooms, drinking water, food stalls, souvenir shops, etc. Also, avoid visiting the garden during the monsoon season (July to September), when the garden can get muddy and slippery, and the water features can get disrupted. The best time to visit the garden is between October and March, when the weather is pleasant and the garden is in full bloom.

How to Reach the Pinjore Garden

• During the festival of Baisakhi, which falls between April and June, the garden comes alive with the annual Mango Festival.
• Camera Not Allowed, only mobile photography is the option for visitors.
• It is a 2 day spring season festival of Vaisakhi held in April every year with regional food, traditional handlooms and handicrafts on offer.
• This splendid garden served as a summer retreat for the royal family and a venue for grand festivities.

The garden also has vast parking for private vehicles. As in the later years, it was renovated by rulers of the Punjab region, you can sense a cultural representation of Punjab here as well. It is one of its kind garden in this region which beautifully showcases the Mughal and Rajasthani architecture. The Pinjore Garden is a sure-shot spot on everyone’s to-visit list when in Chandigarh. The accurate date of the building of the garden is unknown. It is said that this garden was for Aurangzeb’s summer retreat and that he himself had quite an input on the design of the garden.

A very nice place to visit and for a picnic spot. Felt peaceful after visiting here. The garden also has a hotel and restaurant if you’d like to stay.

Though, it is advisable to visit in the evening to cherish Yadavindra Gardens the beauty of the garden. Best time to visit is in evening. Most of those classic water features and fountains, which should be the star of the show, are either bone-dry or covered in mold. Unfortunately, that potential is currently lost to neglect, earning the gardens a modest 3 stars.The main issue is the lack of proper maintenance – the gardens are frankly in shambles. It is one of the best places to visit in the area and offers a peaceful and scenic environment.However, the food experience inside the garden was disappointing.
